BI6000 is a mountain bike adventure across two areas, Ripollès and Alta Garrotxa, in one of the most beautiful and untouched zones of the Oriental Pyrenees.
All this will take place along 250 km and 6000 metres of positive difference in level, climbing various mountain passes up to 2000 metres, accompanied by a local guide or self-guided by a road book.
The paths you will cycle along were once used for livestock movement (transhumance), smuggling, and even, for the republican’s withdrawal after the Civil War. 90% of the route will be along narrow tracks and forest trails.
This is a course with different stages that you can adapt to fit in with your physical fitness.
The departure point is Camprodon. You will cover the majority of the Valley of Camprodon before heading towards the neighbouring Valley of Ribes, crossing lower Ripollès, and finishing back where you started.
There is fantastic scenery to be seen along the way: the highest mountain peaks (Puigmal, Gra de Fajol, Pedraforca, Bastiments, Costabona, Canigó, etc…), magnificient forests: oaks, birches, pines and so on.
All along the route we can find a great variety of fauna, both wild and domestic. As we cross farms and meadows we will be accompanied by numerous herds of cattle, sheep and horses; and with a bit of luck we might even see other wild species such as Pyrenean chamois, wild boars, vultures, eagles and foxes, among others.
Art lovers will be able to enjoy a vast quantity of Romanesque wonders such as the Bridge and Monastery of Camprodon, the Monastery of Ripoll, the Church and Christ in Majesty of Beget, the Abbey of Sant Joan de les Abadesses, the church of Santa Cecilia of Molló and the Antipendium of Sant Esteve of Llanars, among others.
